The designer selection of the Best Italian kitchen brands for the contemporary home
The kitchen represents the nerve center of a home, not only as a space in which to prepare, cook, and eat meals, but as a place for everyday life. The market offers many solutions, which can be designed to adapt to all spaces because every house is different and the possibilities are many.
A sign of style with the Italian kitchen designer brands.
Among the household names in the kitchen industry is Boffi, a company that has been interpreting the evolution of taste and technology for over fifty years, remaining synonymous with innovation and design at an international level. Amidst the brand’s collections are projects signed by some important names in Italian design. Among these, Piero Lissoni, Patricia Urquiola, and Joe Colombo stand out for having designed the mini wheeled kitchen for Boffi in the sixties. It was an experimental project, at the time made of wood, and today offered in Corian® or marine plywood suitable for outdoors.
Salinas by Patricia Urquiola for Boffi: a surprising design
Among Boffi‘s most recent projects is Salinas, the kitchen designed by Patricia Urquiola. It is a refined and elegant proposal, in which one can recognize the signature style of the Spanish designer.
Salinas is characterized by its simple geometric and modular kitchen composition.
It is offered in a single material or multicolored version, but what is striking is the details, which make the difference in functionality and finish.
Details such as the glass doors, ribbed or transparent frosted or the sink in natural stone. Finally, the table is welcoming and functional, satisfying any need given that it can be fixed, removable, or sliding.
The K2, the kitchen by Norbert Wangen, is functional and aesthetically austere, a model designed to meet the needs of an open space.
Once again, even in this Boffi kitchen, the details make the difference. Like the hidden handles, whose opening is created by a particular configuration of the door and the worktop.
Dada Kitchens: Experience and Innovation since 1926
Among the best Italian kitchen brands we also have Dada, a historic company founded in 1926 as a small carpentry workshop, which over time has grown to become one of the leading Italian brands in the industry. One of the latest creations by Dada is Ratio by Vincent Van Duysen. It is a modular island kitchen with furniture and accessories designed to satisfy the most demanding and sophisticated user. It is composed of a metal structure that defines the architecture of the base, wall units, columns, hoods, and other accessories, playing between full and empty volumes, in an elegant play of balances.
But one of the first kitchen models designed by Vincent Van Duysen for Dada is the VVD, awarded in 2017 with the EDIDA Elle Deco International Design Awards.
VVD has a dynamic and sophisticated composition that plays on contrasts, such as those of thickness: slender on the sides and in the ends and strong on the work surface.
Austerity and formal sleekness distinguish HI-LINE 6, designed by Ferruccio Laviani, one of the leading models of the brand, awarded also in this case with ELLE DECOR Design Award in 2007.
A versatile kitchen that allows you to have numerous compositional possibilities in order to meet different specific needs.
Italian Fashion Design: from the catwalk to the Kitchen
In 2016, Dada of Molteni Group, in partnership with the Giorgio Armani, created the Armani / Dada collections, immediately placing itself among the highest ranks of Italian kitchen brands. These are proposals designed to bring the simplicity and elegance of Italian style to the kitchen. There are three high-end models in the collection: Bridge, Slide, and Checkers. These kitchens tackle the theme of the “open kitchen”, conceived for spacious rooms with larger scale kitchens with linear, corner, wall, or island compositions, as in the case of Slide.
From the world of fashion to that of high quality furniture. There is also Fendi among the prominent names who at Eurocucina during the 2018 Milan Design Week presented the first collection of Home Professional Kitchens, a collaboration born between FENDI and SCIC for the creation of FENDI CUCINE. The proposals in the catalog are signed by the architect Marco Costanzi who offers a pure and essential design, with hand finishes and an exclusive mix of colors and materials.
In a kitchen, not only aesthetics are important, but functionality and organization are also very important. Only the perfect balance of these aspects can give rise to the best products that fall under the Best Italian kitchen brands.
Arclinea: the authentic Designer Italian kitchen in steel
Arclinea knows this well, another of the first-rate companies in the high-end designer kitchen industry. A company born at the beginning of the 20th century that has spanned throughout Italian history until today. Among the most important collaborations of the brand is the one with Antonio Citterio who, since 1986, has designed some of the brand’s main products investigating the ways and habits of kitchen space living.
One example is Italia, the professional kitchen designed for the home. Made completely in stainless steel, the Italia model is equipped with large worktops, spacious containers, internally equipped in an organized and efficient way, with extended cooktops, two differentiated and separate washing areas: for dishes on one side and for food on the other. Also high is the level of customization of the proposals, which are able to satisfy every need: from the layout to the finishes to the accessories.
The history of Italian design is also being written through the Best Italian kitchen brands, including Minotti cucine, which this year celebrated its 70th anniversary.
Minotti kitchens’ collections are recognizable for their style based on essentiality and minimalism. The forms are elementary and pure, the use of colors and materials is reduced to a minimum for a rigorous and uncompromising style. Solid wood, stone, and marble are combined in monochrome to not upset the user’s inner harmony, thus becoming the protagonists of the kitchen space. A formal austerity like that of Anima, the kitchen designed by Alberto Minotti, composed of single cubic elements, in which each element corresponds to a function: cooking, worktop, and sink.
Giorgetti has recently launched its own kitchen collection to be among the leading Italian kitchen brands. It is a century-old Italian company with international breadth, which only in 2017 introduced kitchen in the catalog. GK01 GK02 and GK03 are the proposed models characterized by primary and linear geometric shapes with customizable finishes according to customer request.
A modern kitchen must be able to meet the daily needs of today and tomorrow.
This is how Poliform‘s timeless proposals are born. They are kitchens characterized by functionality and essentiality, the main interpreters of the contemporary kitchen.
The proposals of Poliform marry the idea of an open space where the living area and kitchen coexist perfectly. Among the cutting-edge proposals we find Trail and Twelve, both signed by Carlo Colombo. Two models that differently interpret an important element in the kitchen: the handle.
The kitchen is a domestic space subjected to intense use, where we spend much of our time. Careful planning is essential because a well-designed kitchen allows you to move from one activity to another following a logical sequence.
Ergonomics and usability of spaces are themes dear to Valcucine, a company that for over thirty-five years has been designing these spaces to meet the most substantial needs. In the ’90s, in fact, Valcucine launched Logica System, an ergonomic kitchen system characterized by an equipped channel, extractable baskets, and wall units with flap doors that allow you to work in the kitchen while having everything within arm’s reach. Later evolutions that then led to recent models such as Logica Celata, a project by Gabriele Centazzo.
The kitchen is part of our daily routine, so the planning phase is important, which must take into account every personal need while remaining flexible to future changes.
